Paul Rogers is an Apache Drill PMC member and co-author of Learning Apache Drill. He brings many decades of experience (since the Bangles were at their peak) as a systems engineer. Paul was a co-founder of Actuate, an early BI-tools vendor, and was architect of the Eclipse BIRT project.

Paul is an experienced systems engineer specializing in BI, query engines and distributed systems. His experience also includes work in database and Big Data tool internals.

Most recently, Paul’s experience was at MapR on Apache Drill, at Cloudera on Apache Impala, and at a major log analysis vendor. He’s also contributed to Informix, Oracle, Rational, SumoLogic, and several smaller database-related companies.
EDUCATION
Paul holds a B.S. in Computer Science from UC Santa Barbara. He earned his MBA from Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.

In the analog world, Paul is passionate about travel and spends his time on the move cycling and skiing.
